Yogis assemble!

Did you think I was only into training muscle imbalance?

I also stretch like most athletes should and work on my balance because that's half the game of climbing.

For you yogis out there. I follow this channel and also do this yoga practice every so often. Not as much as I should but I do it. I would suggest doing this at least once a week in the morning when you wake up or before your climbing session.

So you want to get better at mantles?

You can pull straight up great!

You can't push to the side and hold the compression? Bummer.

This is what I did for supplementary training about twice a week for 3 Months in the summer.

This is subject to opinion, but you can choose to accept my advice or not.

Yah that's right 15 reps of 6 different types of pushups for 3 sets. 270 pushups total.
If you keep up with my blog you'll remember I could barely do 3 when I started climbing.
I worked my way up. I could only do 7 reps and eventually worked my way up to 12 reps.
Chest and triceps isn't the most important thing in climbing, but the muscle imbalance will prove as a hinderance in the long run. I didn't really stress getting to 15 reps. But if you can that's great.

Disclaimer: I did this training program for 3 months at a very early stage in my climbing, I have since then highly revised it, but this did help gain some push strength since I couldn't even do pushups.

Use this video as you please to help you become a stronger climber.

FiveTen Rogues (2012)

So the FiveTen Rogues what do I think of them?

Pros
- Sticky C4 rubber, this particular model was great for smearing
- Price was great bought these for 65$ brand new back in 2012
- The velcro straps are great for quick take off and on of the shoes
- Breathable upper
- Good beginner shoe

Cons
- Can become smelly
- Velcro straps can bite into your foot if your shoe is too loose (which happen to me overtime)
- They didnt seem to help me too much compared to the rental shoes
- Overtime the rubber became polished (about 5 months in)
- Heel cup is not the best

For the value these were good beginner shoes.
For my skill level back then, I would say these were decent shoes over the rentals.
Eventually though, I wish I had gotten a tighter size as they became very loose.
There are better options out there for beginner shoes I think.
Moccasyms or Addicts.
I would probably highly recommend the Verdes or Pinks for laced beginner shoes.
If you want velcro straps I would suggest investing some money into the Anasazi VCS.

I'm not sure how much the updated versions of the rogues have improved.
But I have tested both in the gym (the mens blue and the laced up green).
After testing the laced up green Rogues, what I took back from it was that they were still the same rogues I had bought back in 2012.

Summary: There are better shoes out there. These are a great value, but I would recommend putting in that extra dough for something a little better.
